I purchased these filters from GE as I have for the past couple of years but recently the filters only last about 2 months at the most. They are supposed to last at least 6 months but after 1-2 months the water comes out as a trickle. I tried several of the same filters hoping one was defective but they all lasted a short time. I called GE to let them know of the issue they suggested we check on our refrigerator to see if that was the problem. The technician came to see if it needed servicing but the refrigerator is in good working order so the technician said it was indeed the filters that were the problem. The filters are expensive and should last at least 6 months as advertised but sadly they do not. I am very disappointed in the product and there are not many other options.

Been using authentic GE water filters since we purchased the refrigerator. They appear to do a good job. Only complaint is GE used to offer coupons and promos via mail all the time for reordering....but none recently. The filters have gotten rather pricey but I hesitate to purchase non-GE ones based on warranty issues.

It's a shame to spend so much on a refrigerator, when you have to pay this amount for a filter. I understand if you're a large household and regularly use the water in the fridge. But I'm one person, who only home on average of twice a month. So the water is rarely running through the filter. My main issue is the fact the filter has a chip in it and will record # of days it's installed and not quantity of water put through it. So I either gotta look at the red light everytime or change the filter. With this so called technology, you'd think they'd come up with a better option. Plus why do I want to spend $60 every 3 months for something that rarely used .

The refrigerator itself has a lot of great features but this review is for the water filter. Very easy to install and seems to function well. But it's overly expensive. Also I ordered a 3-pack online and received only 2. Spent "forever" on hold when I phoned to complain but once I got through they did ship the third immediately with no issues.
